Skanska – IPC Euston
ProjectWise Syncronisation
Client: Skanska
Project Industry: Document Synchronization and Migration
Third Digital is proud to present our successful collaboration with Skanska on the development of a document synchronization and migration system. Our goal was to seamlessly synchronize documents between Skanska’s ProjectWise environment and Network Rail’s (NR) ProjectWise environment while ensuring the preservation of metadata, content, and content integrity. Additionally, we undertook the migration of Skanska’s existing documents from the NR datasource to Skanska’s hosted environment, minimizing disruptions and content loss.
Challenges Faced
The project presented several challenges that required a strategic and meticulous approach
01
Synchronization of Documents
Efficiently synchronizing documents between Skanska’s ProjectWise and NR’s ProjectWise environments required careful planning and execution. Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of metadata and content during the synchronization process was crucial to avoid any discrepancies or errors.
02
Timely and Scheduled Synchronization
The synchronization jobs needed to be scheduled at specific intervals to ensure that documents were transferred from Skanska’s environment to NR’s datasource in a timely manner. This required efficient coordination and automation to minimize delays and maintain project timelines.
03
Migration of Existing Documents
The seamless migration of Skanska’s existing documents from the NR datasource to Skanska’s hosted environment was essential. It was important to minimize disruptions and content loss during the transition, enabling Skanska and its subcontractors to continue working without significant downtime.
Our Approach
01
System Development and Integration
Third Digital took the lead in developing a robust document synchronization and migration system tailored to Skanska’s requirements. Our team of experts worked closely with Skanska to understand their needs and translate them into a scalable and efficient system. We ensured that the system seamlessly synchronized documents between the two environments while maintaining metadata and content integrity.
02
Scheduled Synchronization Jobs
To facilitate timely synchronization, we implemented scheduled jobs that automatically initiated the transfer of documents from Skanska’s environment to NR’s datasource. This automation reduced manual effort, improved efficiency, and ensured that the documents were available when needed in the NR environment.
03
Seamless Migration Strategy
Our team designed a comprehensive migration strategy to transfer Skanska’s existing documents from the NR datasource to Skanska’s hosted environment. The migration process was meticulously planned and executed to minimize disruptions and content loss. We conducted thorough testing and validation to ensure a seamless transition and uninterrupted productivity for Skanska and its subcontractors.
Results and Benefits
The implementation of the document synchronization and migration system for Skanska resulted in significant benefits:
01
Streamlined Document Transfer
The system seamlessly synchronized documents between Skanska’s ProjectWise and NR’s ProjectWise environments, ensuring they were available when needed. This streamlined the document management process and improved collaboration between Skanska and Network Rail.
02
Timely and Efficient Synchronization
By implementing scheduled synchronization jobs, we ensured the timely transfer of documents from Skanska’s environment to NR’s datasource. This minimized delays, improved project efficiency, and reduced the risk of information gaps.
03
Preservation of Content Integrity and Metadata
Our system maintained the integrity of metadata and content during the document transfer process. This ensured that important information associated with the documents remained intact, avoiding discrepancies or errors.
04
Smooth Migration Process
The migration of Skanska’s existing documents from the NR datasource to Skanska’s hosted environment was executed seamlessly. This minimized disruptions and content loss, allowing Skanska and its subcontractors to transition smoothly without significant loss of productive time.
